Arthritis patients require relief from their pain. They also require direction when it comes to medications.

Since these patients are often seen by multiple physicians and are receiving multiple medications, clear and direct information about how to manage their medications is important.

Here are some useful tips.

Safety In the Doctor’s Office…

• Keep a list of medicines you are taking (Rx, OTC, herbals)

• Bring a list of your medications to show the doctor

• Describe bad medication reactions you have had in the past

• Understand what your medications are for and their effects

• Understand how to talk them (e.g., how many, how often, what to do if a dose is missed)

• Write down how to take your medications. Know the doseage!

• Double-check to make sure you have enough medications to last to next visit

• Understand what bad reactions might occur from your medications and when to call the doctor

• Don’t be afraid to ask questions or express concerns

Safety in the Home

• Ask family members to help you remember to take your medications

• Don’t run out of your regular medications

• Read the Rx label each time you take your medication

• Don’t take medications in darkness

• Follow the doctor’s directions – if not, tell the doctor why you are taking them differently

• Store medications out of reach of children – do not refer to medications as “candy”

• Avoid using someone else’s prescription medication

• Call your doctor if you think you are having a bad reaction to your medication

Do you know what kind of blood test is ordered for you? Do you ever ask? Do you ever ask if there is a better test? If the answer is yes or no, read on.

When your doctor orders a Complete Blood Count (CBC) which is a simple blood test performed everyday, we forget about it until we receive the results.

I have found out recently a CBC can be run in a more complicated way and the results will be more conclusive in forming a diagnosis.

When a doctor orders a blood test any blood test they mark a box with that particular blood test. But when they request a CBC they can request it to be MANUALLY REVIEWED.

This means simply a human person will handle your blood and screen it without the computer. In this way, the human person can run other tests the computer misses.

In most cases, this is not necessary. A CBC run the usual way by computer covers most of today’s diagnoses. But when you have symptoms which hang on for months, and your doctor doesn’t have a clue as to what is wrong with you, then the MANUAL CBC test is in order.

My friend found out about this test by accident. She has been in the medical field for over forty years. Her doctor could not help her with her present illness. It lingered for two months. Her doctor sent her to an Internist and that doctor sent her to an Infectious Disease Doctor. This doctor is the one that suggested the CBC test be run MANUAL and she now has a diagnosis. Once you have a diagnose, you are on your way to a cure.

Do not be afraid to ask your doctor, if you are having this type of problem to run a CBC MANUALl. Maybe, you can educate your doctor.

Thank you for reading my article. Please feel free to read my other numerous articles.

Doctors - How To Trust Them, When To Trust Them?

When some of your beloved is not well, you try to go to one of best doctors.
You spend a lot but results are not worthwhile. Then there is one obvious question in your mind and that is “How do I know if I got the treatment right, or how do I believe that this doctor is the one for me.”

Sometimes it becomes quite hard to believe doctors as one does not get well soon or even after a long treatment. People, in this frustration, keep changing the doctor for a hope that the last doctor was not up to the standards and the new one will cure easily.

So in these situations, we have some guidelines for you to avoid some of the common mistakes.

Well, first of all, always try to know which doctor you are going to. If possible try to find out if he is a certified doctor actually or not. This process takes times and one can not just go and ask doctor when he needs a doctor. It becomes a stupid question that time. It is all about being aware.

Secondly when you visit the doctor try to search Internet for information about your disease. It will help you to understand what is wrong with you.
Now a day, this is very common. So do not be late in knowing about what is wrong with you.

When you find a good doctor, trust him, if result are not good even after sometime do not just switch over to other doctor by quitting the treatment of one in between.
It kills the therapy ethics. So trust your doctor and let the treatment complete.

A good doctor will always try his level best to protect you, help you to recover as soon as possible. So its good to trust them, however there are so many, who just work for dollars and are most probably fake one.

Doctor Who is now the longest running science fiction show that has been on television. The series commenced on 23 November, 1963. The Stargate SG-1 series holds the record for the world’s longest running consecutive science fiction show.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series produced by the BBC and is shown around the world. In 2006 Doctor Who won recognition as one of the finest television programs produced by Britain. It won the British Academy Television Award for the Best Drama Series.

The story of Doctor Who centers around an alien time traveler, the Doctor, who travels in his time machine, the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimensions In Space). The original run of the series was from 1963 to 1989, with a television film being made in 1996. The second run of the television series began in 2005.

Doctor Who possessed the ability to regenerate his body as required and was played by many actors with the original Doctor starring William Hartnell and the current Doctor starring David Tennant. Doctor Who shares his adventures with up to three companions.

In his travels Doctor Who has various adversaries and villains to overcome that have included the Daleks, that are mutants with metallic voices from the planet Skaro and have the aim to exterminate all that are inferior to themselves. The Cybermen are humanoids with artificial parts in their bodies who are extremely calculating. The Master is a renegade time traveler and the greatest enemy of Doctor Who.

Dr Who has attracted a cult following around the world and has resulted in many spin off products, action figures and toys to supply enthusiastic followers of the popular science fiction series.

It seems most feel that there is no scientific evidence to prove there is a link between high cell phone use and cancer. Not so fast folks. The director of a Pittsburgh cancer research program now states there is. His biggest concern is the possible dangerous effects poised to children who use cellphones, because brain is still growing. Now parents have a good excuse not to buy cellphones for their kids.
